    Default CMT expanding countersink bits.

    Hello again,

Looks like I'm going to buy some 'V' nails from carpa-tec, which the wife approves of (I'm so wipped ).....Seems like a good excuse to buy something else while I've got the catalog out.

I really like those countersink slieves that grub screw onto your drill bit, so you can drill a hole and countersink in one. Speeds up screwing immensely with 2 powered drills. One to drill the hole and countersink, and one to put the screw in. you know.

Anyway, the regular one I have is had it. So, I'm looking at page 109 of the catalog, and I see these 'expanding 45 degree countersinks by CMT'

Any good ?...... thinking it might be too clever. Clever stuff, with moving parts are more likely to cause grief, I've found. Still curious though. CMT's quality too, isn't it. Anybody own one ?

    Thanks
    Jake

I don't have the CMT countersink but going by their quality it is probably good.
I have the insti-bits (combined drill +countersink cutter) sold through Sachys with their square drive screws - the countersink quality is very good.

    Jake,
I have mant CMT router bits. Fantastic quality. What you need to remember is that most countersink screws form an angle of 82 deg.
The CMT countersink bit provides an angle of 90deg. Not exactly ideal if you need to ensure fastening that need to be strong.
    Regards
    Les

I've got screws with countersink blades on the heads, can't remember where I got them.
