    Default Cnc millingquestion

    This isnt t quiet the right forum for it but. Iam not exactly sure where to ask this one;0 Feel free to put it ssomewhere mods.

    Iam thinking about the iea of getting some cnc milling done on some marble. (pretend i said wood
    I have solid block about 30x20x20cm. If i design a 3d cad model can i send send it off to someone to get it cut.


    What iam asking is has anyone done this before and how what should i be expecting.

    Any comments would be great.

    G'day.
    Don't the headstone makers use CNC router type thingies for head stone writing and graphics?

    Marble is actually fairly soft (some cut with an ordinary hack saw), compared to granite, which is sometimes preferred for headstones owing to longevity. A carbide cutter shouldn't protest very much. I'd contact a headstone shop to discuss your objectives and their sentiments. Kitchen countertop fabricators could also be a source; granite countertops are currently hot upover here, although might not have 3D capability.
