Comments on Design
I am building a cabinet/ side board and would like peoples input on the basic design. The legs are 50mm square and rails/stiles 40mm square with a rebate cut for shelf panels and mortise and tenoned into legs.
Dividers and shelves will be veneered ply the rest solid wood.
Have I made it strong enough or to beefy?
Does it look like its in the right proportion?
I've been staring at it too long and need a perspective from some fresh eyes.
Thanks
Shane

Looks good to me.
Good luck with building it.

Maybe a little bit high for the length if you use the golden ratio rule of thumb(1.618), for 880 high 1420 wide would be the "ideal".
The only other thing I can see is the drawer bottoms cant be replaced, they should be removable.....................................................................

Certainly sturdy enough. I don't mind the proportions either.
edit. And I think hat is because the three bounded rectangles are close to another pleasing proportion 4:9

Thanks for the feedback.
Hadn't put alot of thought into the draws yet but like the idea of the removable bottoms.
Going to order the timber tomorrow, have gone with Cambia american white ash from Britton timbers, just hope we can get some veneered ply to match as close as possible.
cheers
