    Default new computer desk.

my computer desk is about 20 years old (hand me down) made from chipboard with a verry thin laminate over teh outside (wood grain pattern) .

everytime i sit down another peice falls of and is sways back and forth 4" or more at the top when the printer is going.

so i decided i need a new one.

this is what it will look like (maby) at least i got somthing to scale down from anyhow.
will be bluegum slabs/boards and pine logs.

    Looks good, Carl.

If it were me, I'd make the monitor area larger than the current monitor (they seem to keep getting bigger), and also raise the monitor up 75-100mm depending on your height. Maybe have the printer area the same size as the monitor area without the lift, and that would give you a flat shelf across the top? Printers also seem to grow over the years.

    My 2c worth....

    Default Looks good

Allow for a 24 inch widescreen monitor, and speakers either side of the monitor.

Is there enough room for you right hand to work the mouse or do you use it left handed?

I am not keen on having the computer tower mounted in the desk, because when you bump the desk you run the risk of damaging the spinning hard drive. This will not matter when we are all using solid state drives just made of memory sticks.

As a guide, for the monitor, when you sit at the desk, with your feet flat on the floor, and your back straight, the top of your monitor should be an inch or so below eye level - this'll help keep your sholders relaxed, which means you'll sleep easier at night!

I'd mount the monitor on an arm to free up some desk top space - a desk is never big enough
