Concealed drawer sliders
Hi all,
Can anyone recommend a good concealed soft close drawer slider so the appearance of the drawer when pulled out would be similar to the one that's pictured below?
The drawers are a decent size (1000 wide x 450 deep) and it will be a face frame type construction (also pictured below).
Cheers,
ps excuse the mess

More than likely they are bottom slides. Hafele has a good range as does Willbrad.com.au and Bunnies keeps some.

Can't go past Blum runners

Ok I just looked up Blum and watched a vid on their Movento concealed runners.
Good god. Those things have more functionality than my car. Might have to get myself some. Don't look cheap though.

Hi Chode
About five years ago I built an eighteen drawer storage cabinet for my workshop and tested as many runners as I could. I have posted before on this but my findings were as follows:
- Blum (concealed) under-drawer runners were best of the best in terms of smoothness and consistency of operation.
- Hettich side runners were next best.
- Blum side runners were marginally behind Hettich.
- Hafele, Grass, etc were all very good products but too close in price to Hettich and Blum.
- The Chinese made full extension side runners sold by both Blum and Hettich agents were very good value for money and appeared well made for the $15 price tag.
- The powdered coated runners sold by bunnies and M10 were grossly overpriced.
Five years on, my views have not changed. The Chinese ones are now $17 plus $4 for softclose. Still very good.
Eventually, when I did our kitchen, I went for Blum side runners, on price over Hettich; no regrets. A quirk is that Blum 500 mm runners are usually cheaper than shorter lengths. And most runners are available in different load ratings - 40 kg, 60 kg, 80kg, etc.
Cheers
Graeme

Thanks for detailed review Graeme,
What are the 'Chinese made' runners sold by Blum agents you refer to?

Hi Chode
They are Chinese made full extension runners sold by both Blum agents in Hobart and also by all Hettich agents. No brand names or anything. They look like this:
Tool Drawers - Out.JPG Sorry for my photographic skills !
Last month the price was $17.50 for 500mm full extension and $21 for soft close. Don't even look at single extension as the drawers only open about 65% - false economy. These come right out giving excellent access to rear of drawers.
If I redesigned my shed drawres and my kitchen drawers, then I would put in more shallow drawers and fewer deep drawers. Stuff is much more visible and accessible.
Cheers
Graeme

The 500mm price quirk on Blum runners is probably just due to economy of scale in production; 600mm deep benchtops, minus overhang, drawer face and cabinet back, would make the 500mm runner pretty much standard for kitchens
