    Default Concealed hinge help please

    Hi guys,

I'm new to the forum and what better way to introduce myself than to introduce a stuff up that I need help with.

I recently made a melamine storage draw for a cabinet, using 12.5mm thick draw runners on each side. Now to the stuff up.. When I designed it, my "mind's eye" told me the 12.5 mm would enable the drawer to clear the edges of the cabinet doors when open. My mind's eye overlooked the fact that the section of drawer runner on the actual drawer does not clear the door edge. The hinges are standard 90 degree full overlay.

Does anyone know if a replacement hinge exists that when open, holds the door edge clear of the inside of a cabinet carcass.

Kind thanks for any help or suggestions,
    Michael.

A cranked hinge will open so the door is set back. Another option would be a 180 hinge.

Thanks for the suggestions. I had wondered about the 180s when I first discovered my error. On my way back from the job yesterday I stopped at Bunnies and had a look. Of the ones I could find they all still keep the door edge inside the inner line of the carcass.

I'll look further into the cranked hinge suggestion as I don't have much experience with them.

    Any further ideas are appreciated.

    Check out the Hafele catalogue:

Häfele Hardware Technology: Furniture fittings, architectural hardware and the electronic locking system Dialock -

It has all the variations with little diagrams of the opening angles, clearances and so on.

    Jisp,

You'll also find that buying direct from the likes of Hafele is heaps and heaps cheaper than from Bunnings.

    Hi guys,

Problem solved. I dropped by another hardware store today and found some 165 degree hinges that do the job.

Thanks for the suggestions. A trip out to Dandenong (Hafele) was next on the agenda if I could not find anything more locally. I was there only two weeks ago and while they are considerably cheaper if I need quite a bit of gear, I was trying to avoid the trip if I could.

    Cheers,
    Michael.
