Default Connecting 14mm Lock to 12 mm Lock floating floor

I have existing Style bamboo Lock 12mm floating floor. I need to replace floor in the lounge room but keeping old floor in the bedrooms.
I am planning to put 14mm Lock from another supplier.
Can someone advise what is best way to connect the 14mm Lock to the old 12mm Lock.
I am looking for something other than t-section, to avoid creating a tripping hazard, as my 2 year old loves running over this area.

options vary depending on your skills and available tools.

easiest is probably a 20-50mm wide solid wood fillet sloped to make up the difference in thickness

If the boards run parallel to the interface, I'd plane two of the new 14mm boards to a tapered shape 12mm thick on the low side. Mark the high side with tape for protection. Two boards would provide a gentler slope, and make the transition less obvious. Clamp the boards together for the planing operation. A hand plane would allow more finesse than power tools.

After installation, preferably with these boards placed first, a little sanding would make the match nearly perfect.

    Cheers,
    Joe
