    Default Connectors

    Greetings

I am wanting to make hiking sticks which I can easily assemble and separate into three shorter lengths for storing in a suitcase for air travel etc.

What connectors are available for this purpose? Either screw-in or bayonet would be suitable, I guess. Robustness is obviously a factor.

Any advice as to suitability and source would be appreciated.

    Default Stick connectors

    Hi Nomojoe,

I don't know where you can get those connectors but there are the norm on portable billiard cues so that will give you a search start.

    Welcome also.

It might be easier and better to get some machined out of brass. You could actually make them into a feature rather than hide them in the wood.
I dont think I would want to rely on the billiard cure style connectors, they are pretty thin

Are the sticks for serious hiking on rough ground or for a walk around the block.
My concern would be the stress that an adult male would put on the joint. I think you need something designed for the purpose.
If you move the stick forward and then push downward with a bit of weight then there is a bit of torque being applied to the joint
