    Default Constructing a door

Help needed with some construction tips for a door I want to make.

I want to make a door that matches my cladding. I am cladding my garage with hardwood ship lap profile weatherboards running horizontal .the boards are 19 mm thick and have 127 mm cover.
any ideas how I can make a door that does not warp and has the 19 mm profile on the face. The cladding has been charred with a blowtorch and I will do the same finish with the door. I thought of using a ply door but adding 19 mm onto a 35 mm standard ply door might not look too good.
i am not too concerned with weight as I have to build the jamb which will be hardwood.
the door opening is nominal 900 by 2100 mm.

warping is the biggest concern I have.

any ideas or comments would be greatly appreciated

A simple board & batten door is usually done with the boards vertical but you can just turn everything 90* if you like. The important part is the diagonal brace or braces to prevent the door sagging out of shape. 19mm hardwood boards will be fine for a door. As for warping ensure both sides are sealed and wood is seasoned before you start. I have no idea how the charred wood will go with that as I have no experience there. Plenty of door ideas on the net.

Thanks John. I wonder if I was to use an old ledged and braced door and just glue the 19 mm boards running horizontally to the vertical boards. The doors I have seen have been around 30 mm so adding 19 mm would make it around 50 mm.
i think that building a door from scratch with just horizontal cladding might create a bit of rotational stress on the vertical supports when you attach the hinges
so thanks for the links. Got me thinking.
