    Default Cot sliding mechanism??

Hi all, I am building a cot for our first bub and I'm not having any luck finding a hidden sliding mechanism (like the ones on Boori cots). I have read several older threads and it seems like not many have found a supplier. If anyone knows of where to get one I would appreciate the help. I have attached a pic of where I'm up to.

    Cheers

You are looking for their stealth mechanism, works well but they will only let you order over the phone so it requires a call to the US.

I made my own... The ends of the top and bottom rails on the side that drops have tenons that go into long mortices to allow them to slide. When the cot side is up only the bottom of the lower slot is visible. when it's down, the top of the higer slots are visible.

I used a sliding bolt backed by a spring embedded into the top rail to provide the catch - there is a hole drilled in the middle of the top slot to receive the bolt when the cot side is raised to the top. The only thing I would do differently with this is to make the bolt stronger (the ones I used have broken once in 5 years of nearly constant use), and secondly to put a nicer handle on the sliding bolt.

I have a thread around here with pictures of the cot (you may have already found it).

If you can find a commercial version it would definitely be much easier to make, so go with that. But if not, it is quite possible.

    Cheers,
    Dave

    Here's the thread:

Just checked out the stealth kit. It requires thicker rails in the sliding side of the cot. Looks like your cot would be fine, but I'd double check to make sure...

Good luck with the cot, and the little one on the way! It's a world of fun

    cheers,
    Dave

Don't worry - I finished my cot when bub was 4 months old She slept in a cradle until then anyway!

Please post the results when you've put it together - I'd love to see how the stealth kit goes.

    Enjoy,
    Dave

Nice work! The end result is great, and your wife and Bub should be thrilled

How did it go with the concealed mechanism? Did the installation go smoothly? I wish I knew about these things when I did my cot!

    Cheers,
    Dave

PS. Oh, now thta you've rushed, the kid will be 2 weeks late
