Greg, Have you sent the email. If so there's a problem cos I didn't get it. Let me know. If you didn't, that's fine, I was concerned you did and I didn't get it.

    Cheers,

The blade is usually OK on those ex-school bats but the handles are shot. Binding has unraveled and the cane is visibly in 3 pieces separated by thin rubber. They will never be serious hard ball bats again but I would love to do them up for worthy causes (kids only) to hit tennis balls with.
Don't know what type of (string) binding or whether to glue the pieces in the handle back together,

    Default Bradman Bats

    Hey Carry,

The glue used in the handles is only a standard contact cement, so isn't hard to re-glue, just jam a putty knife into them to force some glue in.

the string for the binding's is conton twine that is wet bound using PVA, and final coated with a further coat of PVA. Nothing special and very easy to do.

    Best of luck!

    Greg.

Sorry DanP, i'm the worlds slackest prick and haven't even started to digitise data yet. I will get to it shortly hopefully

    Hi guys,

    try Fusion Sports. www.fusionsports.co.uk

If you look on their forum you will see that they are now selling pre-pressed and handled bats so you can shape the back to how you want without any real specialist tools

    Hope this Helps

Hello, Great and informative thread. Thanks to everyone especially 2817741 for the great advice.

    Sooooo my question is:

How would nice looking timber from a 40yr old and very colourful and healthy (Well it used to be) weeping willow tree in NSW go for making crikey bat?

I have a lot to choose from......

Thanks and sorry again for ressurecting the thread.

    Dane
