    Default Cutting Boards

    Hi All, Am considering making some end grain cutting boards using some CL, does any have any comments please regarding the suitability of CL. Cheers Brian.

    I would go for some a bit more stable ,
    Eucalypt or oak

    Strong smell is associated with camphor Laurel, may impart a flavour as well, some one who has used it for a cutting board my have better info

    I made one, and it has not moved and the obvious smell when first cut dissipates very quickly.

    I would go for it. If it turns turtle on you, you can always repurpose it for something else. With the scraps I had, I turned them into small blocks for drawers to discourage moths, and other insects etc.

    I see heaps (and I mean HEAPS) of cheese boards and the like made out of camphor - actually I even have one.
    Apart from the workshop smelling great the smell won't come through on a finished board - but these are all long grain boards so can't comment on the movement once it's endgrain
