Default Damage resistant food safe finish needed

Hi, I am making a table out of kwila boards, and need to coat it with a food safe finish.

The problem is that this table could be accidentally come in contact with a hot saucepan ( by mistake), and I am looking for a finish that would minimise the amount of work required to repair said damage

I have attached a link here showing all the possible food safe finishes - which one do you think I should use, bearing in mind kwila is known for being an oily timber?
    regards,

    Hi Jill.

I suggest Organoil Hard Burnishing Oil (HBO) for your table. You can see how I use it here and here
It is extremely resistant to heat and moisture. I made a mobile kitchen bench seven years ago and finished it with HBO. Since then it has had fluids spilled on it, innumerable hot pots pans and steaming lids put on it and it's still as good as it was back then. Gives a great finish too. Available at Carbatec. Seems like a lot of work, but its not so bad and well worth the effort. I've used it on Huon Pine, another oily wood, with great results.
    Here's some examples.

Maybe you should look at this too.
    FoodSafe Plus
I picked a bottle from u-beaut today at TWWS and haven't actually tried it yet.
The myriad of suggested uses look interesting.

hi LGS, these are very impressive. thanks for the link. If I was making the turntable for myself, I would use the HBO, but my daughter prefers a normal food safe oil finish on her new turntable , with an oil that she can coat the table regularly
