    Unhappy damaged Gifkins

    Using the gifkins jig the other day and I managed to cut into the template (B10) any ideas of how to repair it , maybe some type of resin ?

    Don't feel too bad. i've done it too.

    I just took a very small nick out of the top of one of the guides so it doesn't effect the performance. The roller bearing runs around the bottom half of the guide anyway.

    I had thought of fixing it with some sort of filler like Knead It or even some 5 minute epoxy but was concerned that sanding it back level might do more damage to the rest of the template.

    How bad is it ? Can you post a pic ? Maybe contact Roger Gifkins. You won't be the first to do this, and certainly not the last.

    You could try this:

    Make a mdf copy using a template follower bit, omiting the damaged area.

    Fill the damaged area of your template using a routable filler, like an epoxy as Gumby suggested.

    Use the mdf copy to clean up the filled area using the template follower.
