De Walt
I was told by somebody who normally is up to date on gossip that De Walt has been sold.
I am not sure if this was recently or the past six months. because De Walt is the owner of a few other brands such as Black and Decker can any one confirm.
The same source said that Elu were sold also. Now I know that Elu have changed hands many times over the years and I thought that it was only a brand also owned by De Walt now and not a separate stand alone company. Can somebody shed some light so I can do some research and give the correct info to my informant.

De Walt is owned by Black & Decker not vice versa (since 1960):

The stock exchange listing shows no change:

DeWalt (still a subsidiary of B&D) took over Elu - high end German power tool manufacturer in 1994:

Maybe this is what he was talking about....
Bosch buys Freud’s accessory line
In a move representing the largest tool purchase since Black & Decker bought the Pentair Tool Group (Delta, Porter-Cable, Devilbiss, Oldham) in 2004, Bosch has purchased the entire line of Freud’s industry-leading saw blades, router bits, shaper cutters, and drill bits

Chipman, I think you are on the money. Your reply fills in a lot of gaps and it all seems to make sense now. I do not like to dispute this person, he is very helpful to me and my lack of knowledge in a lot of woodworking areas shows when I am in his company.
I guess he does a lot of research and quietly assimilates it without making a big deal of it. maybe, because I am interested that I pick up on it and the for others in the group it goes through to the keeper and they let it slide because they have no idea of what he is talking about even though he is God in their eyes.
Thanks for both replies.
