Thread: Dead Trees

Hello All
I've got some questions regarding dead trees that are still standing.
If the tree has been dead for a long time ( more than 2 or 3 years ) would it be considered dry.
-Could you use it for a project straight away.
-In the absence of bark and foliage how would you tell what it is. It is a gum of some sorts.

I am into slabs and rustic stuff and find the 1 to 2 year wait from green a bit too long term.
Also a bit too tight to go spend big money on something that I might stuff up.

I have read hundreds of posts but could not find any on this subject.
