Deaden compressor noise
Need to reduce the noise of the compressor by putting a box over it. Any ideas on what I should use to line the box? Maybe some foam, plaster board or say styrofoam?
Do not know which has the best sound reducing properties.

Contrary to what you say you need something dense like thick wood or concrete or even lead! as well as something like the foam.
It's also not as simple as just putting it inside a box. If you do that the compressor will overheat so ventilation is required but that also lets a heck of a lot of noise out.
Here is how I did mine post Post #119 on this page.

Great idea Bob, very good idea, never thought of putting it "outside" the shed. I must say that every time the compressor starts I soil my pants if I'm deeply immersed in something else

Cheers SJT. Yep I'd classify this as one of the best features of my shed. The compressed air is reticulated to 7 points in the shed so I am never more than 2m from compressed air. I also added an auto tank vent feature based on a 24V retic solenoid and an old X-Ray warning light to tell me the compressor is on cos usually I forget to turn it off and it can be days before I get back to the shed.
