Following my drama with my Delta thicknesser described here:
https://www.woodworkforums.com/f65/keyway-shaft-196786 I have it back in service. But after test running without timber I found that the cutter shaft and the motor shaft are both uncomfortably hot to touch after about a minute of running. There is no obvious reason for this - there is no mechanical binding. Perhaps the belt is too loose or too tight and the heat is being transferred by the belt but the pulleys cool faster than the shafts?

Does anyone have a Delta TP400LS or equivalent eg 22-560 who can do a test to see if the shafts get hot without a timber load?
Thanks if so.
Chris
PS If you do have one, you will be doing yourself a favour to check the nut on the cutter shaft - apparently my failure is not uncommon, judging by postings on the web. And if the heat is normal, expansion and contraction might explain the nut undoing.
