Design help
Not really woodworking but distantly related...
It has almost been a year (March) that The Lumber Bunker has been open, and we are looking re-design our logo a bit (a lot).
If their is anyone out there that would like to have a stab at designing a new logo for The Lumber Bunker or know a willing designer please contact us or reply on this thread.
We would really like it to be in old style used around the turn of last century. Here are some Really cool examples that we would like to model ours on.
If any one can help, that would be great, please feel free to use pictures from our web site. Oh and post any of the work you do on this thread for all to see. If you need high quality images, of our building shop, work shop, just sing out and we can have them sent through.
Cheers and thanks in advace for any help,
Steven

Thanks guys, I will keep you (Waldo) and your family cliff in mind. I had hopes that a forumite might just have a crack at it for diddly squat payment.... maybe
This is the one i did the other night. It's not so bad I just lack the talent.

Thanks guys,
I was happy with it... but.
It looks unfinished and unskilled, unlike the examples I have seen. from the Toolemera Press (see pic below)
Not sure of the wording either, might try to fit the address, a pic of our building (prob, not as it is not much to look at on the out-side)

Steve, just make the 'with comps' font a bit smaller, it currently looks bigger than the 'purveyors'.
The only other thing is the context/grammar... I thought it was always 'purveyors of'.
Bung it in word & hit Shift F7.Cliff.
If you find a post of mine that is missing a pic that you'd like to see, let me know & I'll see if I can find a copy.

Seller, Supplier, Vendor, Outlet, Source.... I like purveyors (of)
The With Compliments, is large as this particular version was to be our packing slip, and will not appear on the end logo...

I think the shadows behind the letteres are too dark and too far from the letters. They make it hard to read. Also the "stain" below the logo should be darkened to help with definition....Just my two bob's worth.

G'day,
Bleedin Thumb has aluded to some issues within the rough logo which need addressing.
In all cases logos must in their simplest form be of a legibility that they are able to be transmitted via fax, this is the means that they must be be able to able to work in black and white just as well as they do in 2, 3 or 4 colour.
The drop shadow in the logo could be simplified to be another layer of a solid block of colour behind the typeface which already has within it a white dropshadow.
Simplification of a logo in it's purest form always works well. The current rough has all too many elements competing with each other and some things yet need to be ironed out.
• The hero is Lumber Bunker Woodworking Shed, and the ribbon works well to bring this togther
• but competing with it is purveyors and Fine hand tools and cabinet timbers. This should be the secondary element of the logo as they explain what the company is about.
• purveyors seems to be placed in its position as an after thought. Combine purveyors and fine hand tools... into the wave to be one element and drop it in size so that the hero of the logo ie. your name is instantly seen and recognised.
• lose the grey scale images of the saws. Purveyors of... already communicates to prospective customers what you are about.
When designing a logo you must always consider where and how it will be applied, this includes thought must be given to the smallest size that it will be used, and this will be a business card. At the momnet if you reduce the rough logo to suit a b/card you won't be able to read it for the reasosn that I've already written about.
A bit more work and it will work for you.
Just my 2¢ for free.
