And to think the guy who made this over two hundred years ago did it with hand tools alone while drinking vast quantities of good German beer & Brandy...
The users guide must have been a challenge to read.

why the surprise? If you were commissioned to make a replica today, apart from basic stock preparation, the precision required to achieve the Roentgen cabinet demands hand tools. Taking less than a tenth of a mm off a board is a real pain with power tools where blade flex is often greater than the width of material to be removed.

Obviously didn't have the internet & Woodworking Forum to distract him & nothing worth watching on the TV........
Brilliant craftsmanship....I don't have the patience or skill
I have played a puzzle game on my Ipad called "The Room"...this is where they got their inspiration & ideas from for their game I think.

What an awesome piece of engineering and art. I wonder if anyone I know wants one for christmas - in 2048 that is.

Rubbish, I made two better ones last week, only took me half an hour.
