Dewalt 735 thicknesser blown motor
Ive just blown the motor on my 735 thicknesser while lightly planing a floor board. Of course it's one month out of warranty. It smoked up and now shorts the power, so I'm pretty sure it's the motor.
Anyone one have a spare motor they want to sell? Or know a reasonable tool repair shop near inner west sydney?

I have used these people with great success.
Genuine Spare Parts for ALL the biggest brands from Makita, Ryobi, Hitachi, and more DeWalt DW735 - Type 1 Spare Parts
It looks like you need to find out whether it is the rotor or stator or (as was in my case with a Royobi saw) both.
It is a pain in the proverbial but it is well worth it.

Oh, and if you do decide to go down this route note that you may also need brushes.

You could try "De Rossi Industrial" in Lidcombe - I've used them in the past for both personal work and business, good service and fair prices.....

Fun Fact, according to Australian law, a warranty lasts for as long as a reasonable person would expect it to last, with a minimum of one year.
If something like a fridge or tv comes with a 2 year warranty and fails after three, its completely reasonable to expect it to last longer, and the warranty should apply. It may take some time to get the manufacturer to agree, but they should eventually.

I've never heard that interpretation of warranty! Is there any link you could share about that? The odd thing about warranty is that it has nothing to do with the amount something has been used, or how it has been used, which is unavoidable I guess.
Thanks for the contacts guys. I'll give them a try tomorrow.

Sounds like the perfect opportunity to figure out how to mount an induction motor to the top of the machine and make it less of a screamer!
(seriously you should do this and then tell me so I don't have to figure it out myself)

Yeh the motor is so loud. You would probably loose the blower function though. And with no dust collector the blower is great.
It turns out the motor is completely burnt out. Which is depressing as I didn't think I was pushing it that hard. Also makes me wonder what the circuit breaker button on the front is for?

I came across this site the other day while looking for spares on another project of mine.
Bit annoying that they don't have the item # listed right next to the part but still, seems like it shouldn't be too horrendous to buy the parts and replace yourself if you wanted to have a go.

At the least it will give you an idea of how much the repair place is gouging you!
