Default Digital Readout on TS Fence

I have been looking at these for a while now and thought that it was all a bit over the top and it was all unnecessary, nice but over the top because wood moves and never stays the same dimension anyway. Tonight I was setting up my saw for an 800mm cut and decided to check the dimension with a steel rule and it was out, so I investigated as you would. It turns out that the tape is out 1mm in 600, 2 in 1200. So how do you guys do it? do you trust the dimension on the tape, have you checked it against a reliable rule? or do you ignore the tape and use a rule every time? I am now thinking that with all the mucking around of getting the old tape off and finding a new accurate one, I should get a DRO, it is accurate and repeatable and it is a digital toy I haven't got. Apart from that, where do I find an accurate tape?

At the AWFS show in LasVegas I purchased an "Accurate" brand digital read out for my Delta Unisaw.

For accuracy it is great! I can easily cut to the nearest 1/64". (Usually good enough for furniture.) What I usually do is to use the scale on the Biesemeyer fence system, lock the fence, unlock the fence and tap it into the correct position per the DRO. Yes, I like it very much. (cost was about $200 US.)
