Default Dining table,- made to order

Made this table for a local client back before Christmas last year. It's a plain Pine Dining Table, BUT, since the client's dining room was at the end of an, " L " shaped narrow hallway, I had to work out a ways, & means of designing the 90 x 90mm. sq. timber legs so they could be attached to the table underside on site. This table had a bit of humour to it before the project even began;- Said client showed up at my workshop one moring and asked me " If I could design, and make a Fourteen Foot Dining Table to fit in his Dining room ? " To which I replied, " Did you measure your Dining Room first ? " Client's reply, " Yes,- with an old school ruler. - Why ? "
Me, " How long is the room ? "
    Client, " About 18ft.- we think "
As the client only lives several streets away, I grabbed my workshop tape measure, ( 8 metre size ), and went over to client's house,- Just as well as things turned out.
Said Dining room turned out to be TWELVE FEET x FOURTEEN FEET,- their planned 14ft table wouldn't fit, so they had to do a bit of a rethink, and came back with the size of 10ft x 42 inch table which would fit, ( 3 metres x 1.1 metres ).
Designed the table with 6 legs to reduce the likelyhood of it sagging in the center, also came up with the idea of a double rail at both ends, & in the center where the legs would fit between, ( Pocket type setup ), with the legs screwed into the rails.
Got a heap of photos here showing how it was done.
The finish is, Feast- Watson Old Baltic Stain, with 3 coats of Semi-gloss Polyurathane ( Wattly Estapol Gloss / Satin,- equal half mix of each,- bush-coated as don't have any spraypainting equipment.
Now, see IF the photos come up as planned,---
    Roger

What a story! Oh yes, always measure a number of times before making/cutting!
