Dining Table leg material
Good afternoon gentlemen
I have recently made a small dining table out of Rose Gum the table top is 1 X 1m and 33mm thick and the surrounding frames are 75 X 50mm. I purchased the rose gum as slabs but their was not enough to make the legs. I have been able to source some Red Gum leg material which should be a fairly good complimentary match. The kicker is that the material has only been air drying for 2 1/2 years as a 100mm slab. My question is do you think that this will pose a significant problem as this material would not be fully dry in the centre. Alternatively doe anyone who lives in Brisbane know where I can source some Rose Gum Leg material at 100mm square.
Cheers

Hi John,
I had a similar issue a few years ago when I built a coffee table out of some rose gum I had been given. I ened up using Sydney Bluegum for the legs because it was the closest matching timber that was available at the timber yard I could find. When I oiled it up it didn't turn out all that different in the end.Dave,
hug the tree before you start the chainsaw.
