    Default Disc/belt sander hassle.

I am replacing the graphite slip cloth on my Sherwood 6 x 10 inch disc/belt sander.
The metal bed is low in the centre along the whole length of the sander. Which means I can't sand anything flat on the machine.
This I is from constant heavy use by the previous owner.

What is the best way to level the metal bed ?

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Pull it apart and take it to an engineering shop for surface grinding. It's a pain, but it works

    Hmmmmm......

Rough up the existing surface and degrease. Apply a coating of "plastic metal" such as Mazel Metal or Devcon then cover the wet surface with sheet plastic such as polythene, getting rid of any air bubbles. Turn upside down onto a flat surface and press hard. Leave to cure then trim off the squeezout and flashing.

That's a good & simple solution to the problem from Col.
I would of suggested something along the lines of welding in a new heavier plates, but you way is so much easier; well done.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys.

What with so many jobs lined up plus a holiday looming I decided on a temporary fix.
I Have spent about an hour just running a flat file up & down the bed. It has removed all the high spots & levelled it out ok for now.

    Thanks again
