One would assume the winner to have had some experience with woodworking given the membership of this forum. Looking at the number of never haves is an eye opener, then there are those refreshing long unused skills, then the know it all's.

My job on the day is to determine the extent of that experience and proceed from an established point.
I am comfortable with my abilities to teach using the gear I have. I have no bout many are willing and able but more are not. It was not a slight on your abilities it was just a pure statement in general.

On another subject - have a wheelie student coming to stay for a turning workshop next month - looking forward to working with her and finding ways to make her turning more enjoyable. Have an engineer mate working on adjustable height lathe stand for one of the DVRs for a start. Any more ideas & advice gratefully received..
This last bits great news for those who can see your not afraid to take on a challenge It also gives me hope that should I win May's draw and the chance to come up I can it to Pat . Just hope you have a sturdy stool or I'll have to bring my own.

With the stand the only suggestions I could make is plenty of balance on the front end to counter balance not just the lathe but forces of an out of round hunk of wood. Not to much steel around if possible or insulate so as cold doesn't transfer, its a bugger it sneaks up and next thing you know your frozen.
