Can distance between battens on pergola be too small
I've put battens on my pergola ready for polycarbonate roofing. The builder provided too many battens so I thought more is better and spaced them around 660mm apart, instead of the maximum 800mm. Yet I've noticed that recommended spacings is
800 mm End Spans and 1000 mm Mid Spans (even more for Greca which I'll probably use) and I'm reassessing - is more really better? It's not a high wind area and battens aren't the most attractive part of a pergola.
They're all cut to a very similar length so it wouldn't be too hard to pop them out and put them back in to increase the spacing.
Or is it just better to have more battens?
Thoughts on this would be really appreciated.

The two negatives are whether it would look better with less which is personal preference and the other is you will have more rows of screw fixings but that is not that big a deal either
I would leave it if you are happy with it , remember they are advising the maximum limits of the product so less is fine

The spans given by the manufacturer are maximum, anything less is fine.

So in general, it looks like I can just ask the boss and see what she wants! Thanks all.

true, it wasn't meant to imply that, but that's the obvious deduction to me.
