I you dont ask you dont recieve
Next door has been doing some work linning his shed to silence things a little
Good news as its right next to the fence and our lounge room and bedrooms.
Even better noticed a trailer with wood sticking out of it with off cuts 2nd hand stuff.
Explained I now have Mini Lathe and doing small projects now have a small collection of hardwood & softwood to mull over.
He in future will keep what he has for me as off cuts.
Any ideas

The off cuts are not small shortest piece is about 500mm x 50mm x 15 thats looks like Jarra and there is some Teak, Western, Red Cedar, Maple some pine and Tassie Oak
This along with the bag of pieces I got a WWS of Sasafras
Sounds like to much trouble making pens but I wont discount having a go at it at some stage...What do I need???
Kit off cuts Echnidna pardon me ignorance ???

Got any daughters in need of jewellery boxes? Sons and cigar boxes? Nice score!
Need? "Absolute bare minimum" is some form of mandrel and the appropriate bushes & drill bit to suit whatever kit you're using. A pen-mill for squaring the ends of the blanks to the tube is also a handy labour saving device, most people start with one but it isn't necessary if you're a "creative" woody.
Jim Carroll sells a slimline starter kit which'll give you an idea of the basic system. There's another, thicker mandrel that's used for some kits such as cigar pens, although the pen1 mandrel can be used instead, with appropriately sized bushes.
As with any tool collection, you can throw a lot of money towards building an "elite" setup and still have a long wish list.
