Door build.
Hi guys I'm planning on building a new external door for our laundry. Timber will be Tas oak with rail and stile construction using mortise and tenon joints. I plan to drill the mortises using a pedestal drill and router bit. What bit would be best? And planning on using Titebond 3 ,will this be sufficient or would another type of glue be better.
Cheers Jim

I'd be using polyurethane glue for anything external.
I'm more concerned about your drill and router bit plan; straight router bits are designed to run at 18-24,000 rpm and drill presses normally max out at about 2,400. You'd probably be better off taking out the bulk with a normal drill bit and cleaning up with a chisel.

Hi Elan thanks for the input, having had a think about the mortises I have a jig for mortising locks and by leaving the stile long I can use this to cut mortises first then cut to length. Door is not exposed to any weather as its enclosed in a covered in patio ,would this make a difference to glue choice?
Cheers Jim

You could probably use exterior grade PVA, but I still think polyurethane is better.
