door handles for french doors.
Hi there.
We've got french doors at the back which see fairly heavy use.
It's annoying but they get slammed shut by exuberant boys, which bends the rotating brass tongue thing and chews out the wood on the opposing door.
Is there such a thing as self closing latches for hinged french doors (wooden doors)? ones that if slammed will actually just close, rather than banging, bending and chewing.
They need to look fairly classy and be lockable too.
If so could someone tell me what they're called?
Ta all.
Cheers

How about some pneumatic or hydraulic closers.??? Pricey I know but probably worth it. Might also save some glass one day.

just the handle / latch thing is needed
I understand the option about the self closing doors - but I think I need to start with the handle. Here's some pics that explain the predicament. Anyone an expert in door furniture here that could point me right handle wise?

OK. Understand a bit better now.
2 options that I see:
# get rid of that set up and get more traditional handles and latches.
#Send the kids to an aunty and get them back when fully trained.

I'd put a proper lock and handle on them. You can get ones that would suit that type of door from a few different companies in Australia. You could try Watsons Brass for example. I have no affiliation with them, but we use them a lot for our business and they offer a good service.
