Hi Guys,

I'm new to this forum, so my apologies if this thread is not in the right forum - I did search and try and make sure it was.

Hopefully just a simple question (well simple from a non-builders' perspective anyway).

We are looking to do a number of small renovations to an already renovated high-set queenslander. One of the smallest renovations involved the 'cutting' of a new door and construction of an internal wall.

Some descriptions of the area:

The door firstly. Internal tongue & groove wall both sides - no wires or piping or obstacles and nothing unsual about the space. Basically an ordinary wall - simply wanting to add a door. Door will be supplied - a french door of regular width.

As far as I know, and nothing indicated as such from the builder - the wall isn't load bearing.

Now a description of the wall. No wall currrently, just space. No wires or piping or obstacles. Wall will be about 2 metres wide. Sloping ceiling. At highest about 2.8 metres - lowest about 2.2 metres. Wanting wall in same tongue and groove finish as rest of the internal walls.

My question is what would be a reasonable cost for this work. We received a quote for close to $10k. That seems grossly excessive - but we don't have building experience so we are unsure what we should be expecting.

We have very limited DIY experience/capability by the way. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Also interested in talking to any carpenters/builders who might be interested in what should be a pretty simple job. Brisbane based.

Thanks guys.
Sam
