Doweling Jig Information
Hi from a newbie.
I am wanting a doweling jig and have been offered a Stanley No 59. It's an older model with five guides. Has any forum member used one of these? Do they work easily? Are they accurate? Worth getting or should I look for another jig? I'd love a Dowelmax of course but there is a tad difference in price!
All contributions appreciated, humourous or otherwise

Thanks for that Bill. I've also just found a previous thread on the Standley 59, which includes photos of the beast being used. What a great resource this forum is!
Cheers

Have a look at this. http://www.ozziejigs.com.au/ I use one of these and they are fantastic, made in Australia
Reality is no background music.

Dowelling Jig
Welcome to the madhouse Woodie.
I agree with Munruben. The ozzie Jig is far superior to anything I've seen and if you intend to do a lot of dowelling the extra cost will be money well spent.

Hello All. I have used a couple of dowel jigs and biscuit joiners, and if you can afford it, you will probably find as I have that the dowelmax is by far the best. It has clever reference face that allows you to align the edges very accurately and the fact that you can drill up to 5 dowels in one pass are the features that makes it so good .
Most people could probably make their own version if they had the time. In fact I extended mine to allow for greater spacing between the dowel drilling guides.
