    Default Dragon Bed

    Morning one and all,

Okay my 9yo daughter loves dragons - more of a dragon fanatic.

Anyhow it has come time to make her a new bed and she wants a "dragon bed" - originally she wanted a bed that was shapped like a dragon (like the racing car beds) but mum and I convinced her something more gothic four poster would look better.

Does anyone have any plans out there or and image I could make of a dragon that I could place on the head board?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Andraax,
Can't offer any direct plans, but simply to encourage you! I used some Celtic art books as inspiration for my dragon rocker, even though they are classed as "serpents". The simple fact that these are line drawings helps when applying the design onto wood. They can be worked as 2D outlines, or turned into more 3D carvings.

Good luck, & look fwd to progress posts

I'd send you a pic of the missus but I suspect you don't want the kid to lie awake at nights....

It might be easier to paint a dragon on a bedspread or doona with fabric paints

Serpent dragons wraping around the posts would look cool... around the posts and have the heads of the dragons as the decorations on the head and foot boards... done much wood carving?

Andraax If you have access to back issues of FFW. February 1994 No 104 (maybe someone else has it and can scan it and post it here) On the back cover is a wicked "Dragon Hammock" Show it to your daughter at your own peril... she will want it.

    Or here http://www.austinthemebeds.com/murals.htm

for some theme beds and murals

The Dragon is a very common motif in Chinese furniture.

    I like this bed:

But you could use the Chinese Dragon motif on your own design.

Thanks for the link, but my daughter wants a more western dragon - bit like St Gerorges Dragon.
