Drawer Runners
I need to make my AV cupboard a little more workable.
The plan it to create a drawer (a flat plinth) in the bottom of the cupboard (1000mm W x 600mm D) on full extension runners that allow the equipment to slide right out for cabling / replacement / repair. Total equipment weight is ~20kg.
Is there such thing as a runner designed go underneath the sliding structure? This would allow me to minimize the height and width lost by using a traditional side mount runner (and keep the mechanism completely hidden).
Would love to know your thoughts.
Cheers, Antony.

Blum Tandem runners are under-mount are very good quality, the tradeoff is instead of losing width you lose a bit of height.
EDIT: Thinking about it, you would probably have to have a sliding shelf of about at least 35mm apparent thickness for them to work, sorry, I've got the flu and my brain can't be bothered reading the specs, the relevant dimensions are the height of the runners below the drawer base (in your case the shelf) and the location of the locating pin that goes in the "back of the drawer" (in your case probably the shelf as well).
You have to think about how to make your shelf in terms of a drawer. If that makes any sense.Last edited by Scissors; 18th October 2009 at 10:40 AM. Reason: More Info
