    Default Dremel Saw-Max

Has anyone had experience with the above? I want to cut down some hoop pine bee boxes and will encounter steel nails during the task. The pine thickness is 19mm. Have they got a multi-purpose blade that can do this without much effort?

Also what amount of dollars do I have to fork out? Is there a better alternative?

    Hi Kidbee ,

If you are talking about the Dual saw with Multi - purpose blade that they show on TV . I looked it up on the net I just put in Dual saw and found one that was $120 . But I can't remember who was selling it at that price .

    G'day guys.

Graham, the Dremel Saw-Max is a relatively new release from Dremel. A little like a cross between an angle grinder and a hand-held circular power saw, as I understand it. (Don't have one myself.)

Gary, they should have all the info you need on accessories and what they can cut here: - Accessories
There are a lot of after-market accessories on eBay, too.

A Saw-Max is $169 here: - Dremel Saw-Max. (I often buy Dremel Rotary and Multi-Max stuff from them. Very good prices. I saw one in the UK for over $300.)

They do look OK, don't they? Very limited in depth, I guess, but otherwise pretty decent looking.
I'll probably eventually buy one to add to my Dremel stable.

This one sounds scary. Counter-rotating toothed blades almost touching. I'd like to buy one 'just to check it out'.

    Hi Hermit ,

They do look ok not a very depth but would still buy one .
I probably would still buy the dual saw as its got a bit more depth .
They both look like great little saws .

There have been a few similar tools appearing in the US market over the last couple of years, basically an angle grinder sized motor/body with a sub-4 inch saw blade (Rockwell, sold thru Rockler for one).

I think they were aimed originally at the kitchen and similar fitout market where you need to cut access holes in flat packed components for power, water etc. They are smaller than the Festo rail saws which can do plunge cuts in the middle of panels and have a bit more go than the 'Multi-tools' like the Fein.
