Default Drill Press Table & Tool Box Trolly

Both these are almost completed rain we need it but can't it rain just overnight

Made a nice size Drill press table T-track and hold downs from McJings. I have yet to screw down the T-track, make the fence hold downs I have left overhang of the T-track so there is room for them. I have also to seal the edges.

Thanks to Fletty for his help in making the cabinet, my Triton Mk3 needs a major adjustment I had cut everything to size but the angle of the blade is not perfect 90deg Fletty mitred the corners on one side and rebated the other. The overhang was originally going to accommodate my clamps it will now hold my large steel square and hacksaws.

    Draws will be added later

    Looks good!

Given the price of the McJing parts, I might change my mind about buying one of these & put the cash toward something else:

    Hi RossM
I bought one of those about 18 months ago and I believe it was money well spent, made well and has saved me heaps of time with some of my repitive drilling operations.

    Thanks Jethrow

Good to know that it works well. It is always a toss-up between saving a bit of cash vs the time & effort in making something. I have found that the time is always more than you initially expect, and ditto for costs!

They both look good Ray. I started making a drill press table during the week, from some 16mm malimine chipboard I already had. But I've decided that is too thin.

How thick is yours, and did you buy the board pre-malimined?

    Cheers,
    Nathan.

    Thanks all

Nathan I got the Melamine free a road side pick up ages ago it was a sheet approx 1000x1400 its 20/25mm thick. It was off cuts from a factory near where my son worked, they still put some out from time to time.

What you could do is use 12mm for the area either side of the T-track if its from McJings, the Carab has a lower profile if I recall. Then laminate a thicker piece below 16mm/19mm.

How big a piece are you after as I have the remaining bit here which is earmarked for a router top down the track.

Thanks to an old forum member who nudged me as to where the drill press table was heading. I can say its come along fine.

A few weeks ago I cut another piece of Melamine sheet 12mm thick to suit the underside of the main table. Fitted 3 coach bolts to the 12mm piece and glued the two together they sat for a couple of weeks.

Made 3 L brackets and used the knobs off the hold down clamps (which means a trip to McJings for 3 more )

Cut a 100mm dia hole for use as bobbin sander hole.

All fitted see the rest on the Blog.

Looks good Ray. I like the cutout for the bobbin sander.
