Best open-end drum sander?
I'm looking for recommendations for an open-ended drum sander in the 25/50 range like Jet, Laguna etc - who has used what and would you recommend it?

Can't make any recommendations but I have been eyeing off this one: Supermax 16-32 Drum Sander w/ stand inc. - Trend Timbers

I've also been eyeing off that exact same model, partly because the reviews have all generally been very favourable, and it's one of the few that can get down to less than 1mm thick, most other models can't go below 6mm.
Beyond Tools in QLD also has really good models by Oltre that seem to be well regarded:
Wide Belt / Drum Sanders – Beyond Tools
And this crowd in QLD have the QWS for a great price that also seems good build quality.
Woodworking Supplies S/E QLD - QWS 400mm Wide Drum Sander
If I can spring it with my tax return and the piggy bank I'll definitely be springing for the SuperMax, as that seems best in class, otherwise I'd probably go an Oltre.
I was looking at the Jet (possibly even Carbatec) ones, but in the smaller units I'm after the reviews weren't great at all, especially the Jet, lots of complaints about that! The bigger model I believe is a different beast and well regarded generally.

I'm probably going to go for the Supermax, may wait until Carbatec get stock in October so as to avoid the freight charges I would need to pay from Gregory's

Or from MMVIC in Bayswater, that's where I was looking.
Don't know if they've got stock yet though.

I had a Carbatec for a while and replaced it with a Supermax which is hands down better
