Drying Wood Fast
Might be wrong,
but I reckon you could dry small pieces very fast by deep frying them.
What the timber would look like after being boiled in oil - maybe good, maybe not.

Wouldn't use vege oil, I wonder what the flashpoint of DO is? BLO?
Besides, I cop enough flak as it is, when wood is discovered in the microwave or freezer...

I think raw linseed would be ok as its edible, whereas BLO has chemical driers in it.
But a drying veg oil should be the way to go.

nah, i don;t think it would work, all you would do is cook the beer batter...
but maybe just maybe....Steven Thomas

It might work on a roughed blank, but I seriously doubt it'd work on a solid.
It'd be heating the water inside alright, converting it to steam & rupturing the cell walls... but not magically removing it. I'd say the chances of it splitting the wood are excellent.
Nuking it in the microwave has the same problem: as well as a higher risk turning the inside to charcoal. DAMHIKT.
Still, nothing ventured nothing gained.

I have heard of it being done but have not tried it myself. I would imagine small (thin) bits would work best. Cant see how normal chip oil would not serve but not game to run the idea past SWMBO.

normal cooking oil might go rancid.
but maybe deep frying in beeswax instead of oil would be the thing.
