    Default ducting for dust extracting

Attached picture of soil pipe being used for ducting.
There is an article on a forum at www.ukworkshop.co.uk
using this piping and showing how to adapt soil pipe dimension to the flexible section together with dust gates.
Sorry if you have seen it all before.

I see your soil pipes are colour coded " brown" over there . Ours are just white or grey. I'm lazy, I just poke the flexible hose into the bell end of the pipe, gives a reasonable seal.

I suspect that the soil pipe is actually meant to be brick coloured ... so it won't show up glaringly against the brick walls of the house ... lot of older homes still have external soil pipes emerging from their first floor bathrooms .... could be wrong though

My observation of these coloured pipes are that they are used underground, and a different quality pipe used externally, usually black or grey.

    G'day.

I thought they were just imitation teracotta like they used to be in the old days.

Yes, I think you are right about colour, also I expect there is a colour code to distinguish between different underground services. After all we would not want anyone to connect a brown pipe up to a black pipe which I think carry mains water supplies.
