If you want to save a few bucks, you might consider this one https://www.timbecon.com.au/sherwood...-collector-3hp, and put it in an enclosure that vents outside.

It's got the same 2200W motor as the more expensive Sherwood, and I reckon this is a really well designed unit. It has a 6" impeller inlet (hidden under the 3 x 4" manifold), and you can connect 150mm PVC right onto that with no modifications. The path from the impeller to dust bag is short and efficient. It's about the biggest motor you can manage on a 10A outlet.

Obviously you lose the benefit of cyclone and pleated cartridge filtration. If the DC in in the open air, you'd want that for sure. However, I think pleated cartridge and cyclone do have a somewhat negative affect on performance. More stages, motor works harder, etc. I'm not sure about that though - never owned one, and didn't go too deep on the research.

By putting the felt bag version in an enclosure, it solves the fine dust problem, and I'm getting the most out of the motor. It's a big double bagger, and I've only had to change bags once in 12 months (occasional user like you).

I'm super happy with it. I run 150 right up to the machine, then step down to 4" on the machine (don't want to cut holes in my Table Saw). It is more than enough power for me. In fact, sometimes too much power. When I run the table saw, I have 4" connected to the cabinet, and 2.5" hose on the blade guard. Solid pieces of wood (albeit fairly small ones) get sucked into the blade guard.

I've found it to be a cheap DC solution, that hasn't required any modifications. It's Awesome!

    RogerWilco is dead right.

@LoveToRide has this machine, with the pleated ($1300 !!!!!) and it is ABSOLUTELY fierce. I was terribly impressed with it.

    A rocketship.

I'd grab this with the pleats, for certain..... in fact, I might grab it and put it in storage for when (if!) I get my workshop back ......
