    Default Easel update

Well as you know doubt know by now, I have been working on an artists easel for my wife.

To day I fitted the last fixtures to it and have given it a complete coat of Wattyl colorwood kauri stain which is quite dark, but lightens to a light mahogany/ dark choclaty color.

Every time I stain finished timber I get real nervous as to the final outcome of the piece. This time was the same as before, with me thinking that I had made it too dark. I have since checked about 2 hrs after the staining and its lightening up nicely (PHEW!!!)

Now to finish this masterpiece (cough) I would like to add some lustre/sheen to the piece.

I should mention that the base is radiata pine, baltic pine main frame and macrocarpa for the finer fittings.

I would appreciate thoughts as to what would suit.

Hard shellac comes up well, followed with a wax finish.
    Easy to apply too.....
