    Default Edge strip glueing

    Hi all

    I am in the process of making a new benchtop for a cupboard in my shed. I have made the top with 2 18mm pieces of plywood glued and screwed together. I am now in the process of puting a jarrah edge all the way around it. I have cut all the pieces required and was about to just glue it on, I hesitated wondering if I should use something extra like biscuits, dowels or even screws.

    The edging is 19x36mm jarrah.

    Any thoughts?

    I usually just glue and shoot a few nails in to hold in place until the glue goes off.

    Default Fixing edging

    Hi Legin,

    Do it right mate. Drill for 10 g x 38mm screws and counter bore with good 12.5 mm drill: glue and screw on edging, plug holes with jarrah or contrasting timber :cut off with flush cut saw or sharp block plane. Great job first and only time.

    Thanks for the replies.

    I ended up screwing and glueing it on. I didnt have a plug cutter so I had a good excuse to go and buy one. Plugged the holes and used a block plane to trim them down. It looks great.
