    Default Edgebander Help

Hey all, my mate is looking to buy an edgebander to go with the saw he bought at the Melbourne wood Show on the weekend. He wants an edgebander that does at least 1mm ABS, and would be a bonus to get one that does 2mm. Preferably hot melt rather than preglued because we're not sure if you can get all the same colours in preglued. Wants top/bottom round trimmers, and end trimmers.
He only wants to spend around 6k, is there anything out there around this price or should he be looking at second hand machines.
Also if anyone can recommend a new machine at around 10k that would be appreciated.

For $6k he should go second hand if those specifications are important to him.

Keep in mind that buying a second hand edgebander is usually buying someone else's problem.

Steer clear of second hand machines with corner rounding units: you are setting yourself up for heartbreak.

    Good luck!

You can get all colours in the Formica, Laminex, Verve and Colourpyne ranges in pre-glued. Not sure about the others, but I'd be suprised if you couldn't. The lead time is a bit longer, but all the colours should be available. Even brand new and spending four times as much as your mate wants to will mean lots of adjusting and swearing. Edgebanders are complicated machines with lots of different functions and components. It helps if you have mechanical aptitude.
