Excellent!!
Thanks Niki, this is just what I am looking for, simple and safe, providing I use the right gear - featherboard, splitter, and guard.
Out of interest, how would you safely and accurately cut a 19x 4mm hardwood strip to 18 x 4mm strip using a table saw? Or wouldn't you ?
regards,
Jill

OMG bloody onkyo is a name i never want to hear of again....
my neighbour had one...
bloody aweful thing... and SO BIG....
i dont know why they opt to make it huge and flat rather than just a bit bigger height wise....
the stupid thing wouldnt fit in any of the tv units he boughtt lol....
i offered to build him one to suit, and then... yep the onkyo went BOOM
while we are talking about tv stuff and my neighbour....
he spent atleast 3 months sanding, scraping, prepping and painting his lounge room....
i helped him put all the furniture back in....
came back a few weeks later to help him move the tv out of the room to change the tv unit and there was a large black square on the freshly painted wall right behind the tv...
these things really do produce alot of heat....
i remember when i was younger and in primary school, my mum used to touch the back of the tv to tell if we had been doing our homework or if we just turned it off and ran to the table when she got to the door

Hi Jill
Well no, I would not do it...I'm afraid that the 4mm strip will flutter up & down and will be difficult to control but...
You mentioned that you can get your stock at 19x19mm so you can:
Or push it through the thicknesser and make on side 18mm....
Or, you can cut it first on the table saw to 18mm (using the "strips sled" for safety)....
And then, cut it to 4mm strips
