    Default Eh.... ??? Speak up!

    Howdy,

Been busy so have not had time to post for a while.... anyway hooked up with a fellow woody fiend at work and he lobbed up at my desk and gave me a DVD with 3 episodes of the new Yanky workshop.

This was great as I'd never seen it before and have read (thru you guys) that it was the ants pants! Anyway great show. I found the one episode I watched last night really good - it was the rolling work bench and clamp holder! very nice.....

Only one critisizm - he says "make sure you are familiar with the safety for your tools and make sure you wear these" (Points at glasses on his head).... so he likes his eyes - this is noble - BUT he ignores his ears!!!! my god he musta used a hand router, a table router, rip table saw, bisquit joiner, his hole making machine (not sure of the name) and god knows what else - never once taking time to don ear muffs!!! is he deaf? has any one else ever noticed this ?????

Otherwise good show - liked it very much.

    Cheers lads.

    Default Deaf??

Never having seen the show, I can't believe a US production in particular would leave themselves open to this sort of criticism (read: loawsuit!)

Being the sort of chap who didn't listen to his mother when he was younger, I am old enough and deaf enough to know what can happen if one is not careful!!!

I kept forgetting to put muffs on, and often found myself operating machinery with the muffs hanging around my neck, or taking them off to talk to someone and not putting them back on.

A few years ago, I went to an audiologist (or whatever hearing aid people are called) and had custom plugs moulded. These can be tweaked during manufacture to block out all noise or as little as one wishes. Mine are known as "musicians plugs" and allow me to hear all frequencies including conversation, so I just stick 'em in at the beginning of the day, and don't take 'em out till smoko! Cost was about $80 I think, but worth every cent.

    Cheers,

    P
