    Bloody hell!

The planer is scary. But I had to watch the saw video twice. I thought my eyes were lying to me the first time.

    Even Makita make one:

They still have the same power as the 235mm saws so probably only really useful (at full cutting depth) in softwoods.

I have one of these beasts. It is fabulous with it's cutting capacity of over 6.5" wide. Not for use in anything other than the horizontal position (that's the planer, not you.) I don't endorse the footwear.

Then everyone would want one (the planer). And in my case I would want two.Come to think of it. I do have two, but I have lost a part for the 150mm Ryobi. The makita was the replacement.

I can't reallycompete with the power feed or the mafell for size and I don't have a vid, butthose were on softwood. How about some good old Aussie hardwood for a workout.

Have a look at post #29.

I used to have one like that, it was an odd French made thing but 10" wide cut.

These have a specific purpose, they were for planing sawn beams that we're going to be exposed. Hard to pass a 300kg 450x250 x 4mt wet oak beam over a surface planer, so you need one of these. I also had 400mm dia circular saw, and a baby 290mm during my time there.

Wet oak is very soft and these things were surprisingly easy to use.
