Default So you think your electric hand planer is big? Take a look at this one.

A friend of mine bought this recently at a garage sale for $25.00. It's 3 phase and 3 HP with a 10 inch cut width.

More a jointer with a handle. I think it would take a fair bit of hanging on to. A mental picture of being draged around the workshop has just come to me.
Some power tools can be too big.

Yep. Turn it upside down and anchor it in a frame, the use as a jointer!

Now, that's a hand plane!! and a bargain at $25. If nothing else you could build a frame to hold it either above or below the work.

    Cheers

That looks like it dates back to the days when men were men and OH&S hadn't been invented.

Ah yes the good old days. I remember them. I got my leg dragged into a printing machine and my dad lost a finger. Good times. .

The plane worried me but that big saw really gives me the creeps. I have had the odd kickback from my 210mm and had sore wrists for days after. That thing would rip your arms off.

I'll buy it off him for $50. That'd come in handy I reckon.

At 18.5 kg, I wouldn't be able to lift it, let alone control the torque twist when it started
A mate had a 6" Makita electric plane, and that was a hand full.
