English Garden Bench plans
Does anyone know where I can get plans (in Australia) for a traditional English Garden bench. Got a source in the US but they frequently go a bit overboard and expect you to have a professional workshop!

Hi Winslow,
There have been a few published in WW mags over the years. I have one here called "Lutyens Bench Plan" which was published in "The Woodworker" August 2002. I could try photographing the cover of the magazine and posting the pic. here to give you an idea of what this particular design looks like if you think it might interest you.
HTH,

A Lutyens bench is one of the most demanding benches to make which would take almost every tool in a wel equiped shop.
A more suitible one would be a standard bench used in many parks which is usually made from English oak.
I have never made anything from plans but always decide on what I want then make it to suit.
An idea of how this bench looks can be found on the New Yankee site.

Norm visited London where he took measurements from a bench to later recreate in his workshop.
Sorry I can be no more help but every garden bench I have made had been rustic with few joints and heavy on the 6" nails. lolDewy
