Eucalyptus Lane Poolei, timber characteristics?
a long time ago in a far off parallel universe, Forestry WA used to publish details of WA hardwood characteristics. I had a great summary document in my early years consulting, but sadly long since lost.
Any advice where I can find timber info on E. Lane Poolei? I found something that may fit the definition in last years wood pile, and hand crafted it with tools from that mob in Malaga. Pleasant honey/nut brown colour, very fine grain and takes a polish well. Definitely not wandoo, already blunted several planes on that beast of a timber, having given it another life after being unable to split it for the fire!
The hope is if I can confirm the timber, I know where more may be, and this time material may not be split to billy-o, if I can control the seasoning.
thanks in anticipation of some sage advice. H

You looking for something like this?: https://www.wa.gov.au/sites/default/...nformation.pdf
Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to cover the species you are looking for, but as it seems a decent reference, I felt it might prove useful to others going forward.

Eucalytus lane poolei
It is not in Bootle, so it doesn't exist........
I know nothing about Eucalytus lane poolei so I did some googling and found that is was a mallee and plants were available from garden shops. Nothing on the timber specifications and usage.
I would now ask the same questions at:
- Forestry, WA, however now titled,
- CSIRO forest products division, and
- university forest products section.
- any wood turners you know.
The critical question is "Who else do I talk to?"

Thanks for the response. I will have a dig in the archives. Reality is I will just keep carving, being a bandit from Dwellingup, whatever comes to hand is fair game. Hookey
