filler for melamine board
Elsewhere on the forum there has been a bit of interest in making drill press tables and I was inspired to join in. Having been accused at home of "running to Bunnings to buy 'stuff' for every new project", I decided to make mine ONLY from 'stuff' I already had.
Well, it is finished and works a treat but I made the case as a mock up only and hence there are wrong, misjudged and previous holes all over it. I would now rather fix the mockup than make another and transfer the hardware over.
Does anyone have any ideas, or better still experience, in a filler than can be trowelled into the holes in the white melamine particleboards and disappear?
I'm thinking of some sort of white epoxy or bog that I lightly sand after?

Try Selleys Ceramic epoxy. Comes in a double syringe thingy, dries white with a consistency similar to araldite
Those were the droids I was looking for.

For an idea in a completely different direction...
you can buy 14mm stick-on melamine screw caps. Drill out the hole with a 1/2" drill, use a plug cutter to make a 1/2" plug and use the plug cutter as a wad punch to punch the melamine sticker down to the right size. stick the cap onto the plug and drive it down flush in the hole. Or you could just make the plug out of eg white polycarbonate or acrylic.
Cheers

There is a range of colored liquid tough up fluid for laminate surfaces available, check out Laminex . It is similar to correction fluid. You could also try "No More Gap" or similar, cabinetmakers use this between jointing Melamine board as a filler between each piece, it hides any small gaps. It hides a multitude of sins.

based on the technicality that the drill press table IS finished, WAS made only from 'stuff' I already had and IS working I can now go back to Bunnies for repairs and maintenance ........ (does that sound convincing?)
thankyou for all of the suggestions, I will report back on success or otherwise.

Note the repair immediately in front. It hasn't even been sanded or otherwise trimmed back yet.

...your wish is my command!
Pics show the table set up as a bobbin sander with built in dust extraction, as a standard drill press table, the sacrificial plates dovetail into the baseboard, the view from the back showing dust extraction and with the drawers open. The left drawer will have a block drilled to take the shanks of forstner bits, microplanes, sanding bobbins etc and the right will have a stacked set of trays to put drills in .... so that they knock together and I have to go to Bunnings to buy new sharp ones ......
the track and hardware has been laying around .... in case
the melamine board is from a bookshelf I broke up
the fence is from wheelin (thanks to whoever it was who gave it to him!)
the blocks from a kitchen cutting board ... ... ... and won't she be upset when she gets home!
the drawer slides from .... seniors moment
and the lack of holes is from Selleys!

Wow Fletty good looking set up draws and all
Like that dovetail sliding centre idea
I see you left tails out the back also
Those Kreg tracks look good.
The L brackets at the back of the fence are they brass??
How is it held in place under side of the drill table?
Thanks for the fence goes to Hughie. Don't worry Hughie the rest is all mine all bits have tag as to use for.

Another filler to try is the swedish norsjo(sp?) white timber filler, comes in tubes and a small tub. (white with green trim on it.)
Bunnings usually sell it but i usually buy it at a dedicated paint shop.
I use it for melamine touch ups all the time, it's a very close colour match to most brands of whiteboard,it also works really well on white vinyl wrap items.
I usually apply it,wipe off the excess with damp cloth and use a small foam roller to add in some stipple on bigger patches, you can sand it also.
